Synopsis
This time the talented director, Hong Sang Su teams up with Uhm Ji Won (of Mutt Boy and Scarlet Letter fame) drawing the viewer into an ambitious new work of art. Hong, whose earlier works include On The Occasion of Remembering the Turning Gate and The Future of Man is Woman despises nothing more than the use of clichés and predictable endings. As a result his latest work is once again brimming with abstract scenarios and surprise elements that draw the viewers into a fantastic story about the world of celluloid. Providing many a twist and turn, Hong's film succeeds in keeping the audience attached from the movie's special opening to its unexpected final. That is probably also the reason why his Tale of the Cinema was picked as the 2005 Korean movie competitor at the Cannes Film Festival and film lovers should certainly check it out!
