Taewangsasingi
Taewangsasingi focus on the life of the 19th king of Goguryeo. The founder of Goguryeo, Jumong, established this ancient country with his four mythical gods. They are symbolized as: Baek-ho (White Tiger), Cheong-ryong (Blue Dragon), Hyeon-mu (Turtle) and Joo-jak (Phoenix). Jumong and his wife Soseono (who has taken a big part in founding Goguryeo) have two sons, Biryu and Onjo. In search of his father, Jumong’s son from his first wife came to Goguryeo as official Crown Prince on his father’s side. Soseono takes her two sons, Biryu and Onjo and established in the south a new country – Baekje. Both countries were known as “Brother Countries”.
Following the myth, time passed and the four gods secluded Biryu and Onjo from society and watched as Baekje and Goguryeo’s relationship worsened (mainly because Goguryeo’s king was killed in a battle between Baekje and Goguryeo).
One of the four gods, Ju-ahn (Hyeon-mu (Turtle) saw two stars souring up into the sky. The one who came from the palace in Baekje, predicted the “Su’s” birth, in later years known as King Ah-shin. The other star came from Goguryeo and prophesized Dam-deok’s birth, in later years known as Gwang Gae Toh Dae Wang.
In the vast Manchurian country Ju-Ahn and a young girl named Sujini awaiting the prophecy which one of both Kings will be his new master. Ju-Ahn picked up Sujini as an orphan. To her, he is like a father.
The story focus on the Four Gods, looking for their master Gwang Gae Toh Dae Wang. He was the 19th king of Goguryeo (37 B.C.-668 A.D.), a master of tactics and in love with Sujini. Sujini was also loved by King Ah-shin, a cold-hearted man.
During Gwang Gae Toh Dae Wang’s time, Goguryeo was the most powerful country in East Asia. At his 11th birthday he is declared to Crown Prince, later on his 16th birthday he became
King. Baekje, a country southwest of Goguryeo is attacked by him in 396 A.D. and took over the northern area beyond Han river. He also defeated many invasions of the Yeon Dynasty in 400 A.D. During his reign, he took over hundreds of castles and thousand of villages. Gwang Gae Toh Dae Wang died at the age of 39.
